Leonard F. LaPenna, 85, of Taunton, died Saturday, November 22, 2008 at Crouse Hospital following a brief illness. He was the son of Margaret (Frascati) and Victor LaPenna and was a lifetime resident of Syracuse. Leonard was the owner and director of LaPenna Medical Labs in the State Tower Building for 38 years. A decorated combat veteran of World War II, he fought in the Invasion of Normandy. He spent many winters in Florida. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, the former Jacqueline Shields; children, Cathy LaPenna of Liverpool, Cheryl (Robert) LaRochelle of Warners, Lisa (Mark) Leesman of Skaneateles, L. Scott (Wendy) LaPenna of Syracuse, David LaPenna of Richmond, Virginia; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; sisters, Rita Gentilcore of Delmar and Marge (Robert) Evans of Fayetteville. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Friends may call preceding the service from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
