Leo Collins, 91, of Camillus, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Community General Hospital. Born in Syracuse on Thursday, April 3, 1919, he was the son of Matthew Martin Collins and Catherine Walsh Collins. He lived in Camillus for 43 years. He was a graduate of Vocational High School and Army veteran of World War II. Leo was employed by Warren Office Supply, retiring in 1986. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and member of the Disabled American Veterans, Toastmasters International, and Blindmen and Criers. He was an avid fan of SU sports and the New York Yankees and Giants. Leo was predeceased by 14 brothers and sisters. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, the former Diane Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and William Rose of Camillus; son, Robert Collins of San Francisco, California; brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Helen Collins of Syracuse; granddaughters, Haley, Lindsey and Marissa Rose; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, July 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 14 at the funeral home.
