Lawrence E. Vertucci

Lawrence E. Vertucci, 81, of Syracuse, passed away Friday at Upstate University Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Cooperstown, he was raised in Richfield Springs before moving to Syracuse in 1963. After a long career at HSBC, Larry and his wife Fran moved in 1991 to Albany to become the regional president of the Capital District for HSBC and returned to Syracuse in 1999. He was a graduate of Richfield Springs High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Siena College. He was employed with HSBC Bank for 36 years, retiring in 1999, and went on to work a few more years for Cayuga Savings Bank.

Larry was a communicant of The Church of St. Michael and St. Peter and served on their finance committee. He was a Board Trustee Emeritus of Excelsior University and served on several boards within the community in both Syracuse and Albany. An avid golfer, he was a member of Tuscarora Golf Club.  He appreciated the outdoors, hunting, fishing and gardening and enjoyed spending winters in Dunedin, Florida with his wife, Fran. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially attending his grandchildren’s events.

Larry was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Anna Vertucci.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Frances; daughters, Lisa (Richard) Nave of Syracuse and Christine (Kevin) Lentz of Gilbert, AZ; son, Bob (Megan) of Camillus; grandchildren, Andrew, Allison, Noah, Madelyn, Thomas and Sydney; brother, Anthony (Jean) of Baldwinsville; sisters, Anne (Jack) Reilly of Ossining and Mary Ellen Edwardsen of Chittenango; step-brother, Kenneth (Barbara) Pratt of Spencerport; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, June 13 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Church of St. Michael and St. Peter, 4781 W. Seneca Turnpike, Syracuse.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, June 14 at 10 a.m. in the church.

Larry will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
