Kenneth “Ken” Jenner, 98, formerly of Camillus, passed away April 11 at his home in Clearwater, FL. Born April 26, 1919 in Hannawa Falls, NY to Walter and Phyllis Jenner, he was married to Elizabeth (Betty) Bean for 67 years until her passing on March 29, 2008. Together they raised five children. Ken was a graduate of Powelson Business School and attended University College in Syracuse. He worked for Pittsburgh Plate Glass and retired in 1979 from the finance department at New Process (Venture) Division of Chrysler Corporation after 39 years. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II as a rifleman in Company C 110th Infantry, part of the 28th Division. He was honorably discharged on December 6, 1945.
Ken was a founding member of Fairmount Community Church and served on several boards. He delivered Meals on Wheels in Florida "to the old people" well into his 90s. An avid reader, he also enjoyed singing in the choir, gardening, golfing, fishing, playing cards, but most of all loved spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving are his children, Sandra (Bill) Kolb of Gainesville, FL, Michael (Ellen) of Hilton Head Island, SC, Walter (Barbara) of Daniel Island, SC, Nancy (Bucky) Gabriel of Camillus and John (Kim) of Concord, CA; grandchildren, Tom (Donna) Kolb, Lisa (Kent) Hudson, Linda (Dan) Shevlin, Lauren (Darrin) Wright, Ken (Vanessa) Jenner, Debbie (Jon) Sierak, Jesse (Emily) Gabriel, Carly (John) Boyles, Abbey (Matt) Warner and Jacob, Julia and Jessica Jenner; 23 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marjorie Griffin; brother-in-law, David (Patty) Bean; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his wife, Ken was predeceased by his granddaughter, Kristan Kolb Ellison.
Relatives and friends may call Saturday, July 14 from 11 a.m. to noon at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Services will follow at noon at the funeral home. Ken will be laid to rest in Onondaga Valley Cemetery.
