Kenneth E. McElligott, 75, of Camillus, passed away Monday, April 26, 2010 at St. Camillus Health & Rehabilitation Center. Born in Manhattan on Tuesday, May 8, 1934, he was the son of Thomas Patrick McElligott and Margaret Mary White McElligott. He was raised in New York City and lived in Arizona until moving to Camillus in 2005. Ken was a graduate of St. Albert’s College and St. Bonaventure University. He retired in 2005 after 25 years of teaching at Mesa Public Schools in Mesa, Arizona. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. Ken was a member of the Arizona Education Assn. and the National Education Assn. An avid sports fan, he was a former cross country coach and enjoyed playing the guitar. Ken was devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Patricia McElligott. Surviving are his wife of 39 years, the former Josephine Infantino; sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Mary DeTomaso of Syracuse, and Michael DeTomaso and Mark and Elizabeth DeTomaso, all of Auburn; daughter, Mary Figueroa of Arizona; brothers and sister-in-law, John and Mary of Ridgewood, New Jersey and Thomas of Boca Raton, Florida; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and his niece, Maureen McElligott of Boca Raton, Florida. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 30 at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus, NY and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Relatives and friends may call Thursday, April 29 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Ken will be laid to rest in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Auburn, NY.
