Katie Marie Kosecki, 34, of Buffalo, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the VA Medical Center Buffalo. Born in Springfield, MA, she moved to Syracuse in 1991 and Buffalo in 2005. A graduate of West Genesee High School, Katie played soccer in junior high and was on the high school diving team. She earned her Associate in Science degree from OCC and Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice from SUNY Buffalo State. She was a rigger in the U.S. Army and assigned to the jump school at Fort Benning, GA. Katie was most recently employed as a collections agent in Buffalo.
Surviving are father, John (Barbara) Kosecki of Syracuse; mother, Denise Morton of South Carolina; stepsister, Alison Farinacci and stepbrother, Jesse (Agnes Wilewicz) Farinacci, both of Buffalo; half-sisters, Melanie and Amanda; and a half-brother, all of Connecticut; and niece, Annika Stefania Wilewicz of Buffalo.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday, February 8 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Services will be Friday, February 9 at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home and 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Katie will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.
