Kathryn W. Carroll, 93, of Fairmount, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center. Born in Syracuse on Monday, March 9, 1919, she was a lifetime resident of Syracuse. She was a graduate of St. Patrick’s School, Syracuse Normal School, and Syracuse University. Kathryn was a teacher with the Syracuse City School District for 35 years and member of the New York State Teachers Association. A communicant of Holy Family Church, she was also a member of their Senior Citizens and the Geddes Senior Citizens. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Kathryn was predeceased in September 1982 by her husband of 34 years, Charles J. Carroll; parents, John and Ellen Whelan; and brothers, James and John Whelan. Surviving are her daughter, Susan E. Carroll of Camillus; son and daughter-in-law, Charles A. and Christine Carroll of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina; grandchildren, Rhea Carroll, Colleen (Eric) Buxton, Victoria (Lance Reigert) Lagoe, Frank Lagoe, Carolyn Lagoe; great-grandchildren, Owen and Brielle Buxton; sister, Loretta Spencer of Syracuse; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Kathryn’s family would like to thank her family, friends and caregivers for all their love and support. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, November 13 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will follow at 9:45 a.m. from the funeral home and at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Family Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Kathryn will be laid to rest in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum, St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse, NY 13219.
