Katherine Ruckyj

April 4, 1926 — September 3, 2021

Katherine Ruckyj, 95, of Geddes, passed away Friday at home. Born in Ukraine, she lived in the Syracuse area most of her life. Katherine was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church and a member of the Apostleship of Prayer.

Katherine was predeceased by her husband, Joseph in 2005; her parents, Nicholas and Anastasia Kilhan; brother, Ivan; and sister, Maria.

Surviving are her daughters, Olga Ruckyj of Syracuse and Susan (Robert) Karr of Pisgah Forest, NC; son, Donald (Kaye) Ruckyj of Syracuse; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, September 8 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee Street, Camillus. A Divine Liturgy for the Deceased will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery Chapel, Salisbury Rd., Syracuse. Katherine will be laid to rest in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 207 Tompkins Street, Syracuse, NY 13204.
