Katherine (Clark) Raddant, 82, of Camillus, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday at Crouse Hospital, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Katherine was born and raised in England, a place she held dear to her heart throughout her life. In 1981, she embarked on a new chapter, moving to the United States where she embraced the opportunities and adventures that awaited her.
Education was a cornerstone of Katherine's life. After completing high school at Greenford County Grammar School, where she was Head Girl, she pursued her passion for learning at the City of Portsmouth College of Education in England, earning her bachelor's degree. Katherine's years of teaching in England culminated with her being Headmistress (Principal) of Beech Green Nursery School. Her dedication to education extended into her career in the US, where she served as a Center Manager, Teacher, and Education Coordinator for Head Start in Syracuse for over 15 years, touching the lives of many children and families in the community. She was also a past Board Member of Onondaga County Child Care Council and Syracuse Association for the Education of Young Children.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Katherine found joy in various hobbies and interests. She was an avid golfer and cherished her time in the Westvale and West Hill Golf Leagues. Katherine had a deep appreciation for music and culture, attending performances by the Syracuse Symphoria with friends for over 30 years. She also enjoyed hosting an annual Christmas party and many summer patio parties for friends and neighbors. Traveling with her beloved husband, Bob, brought her immense happiness and countless cherished memories.
Above all, Katherine loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Katherine was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Margaret (Anderson) Clark.
Surviving are her husband of 43 years, Robert; sons, Andrew (Mary) of Mooresville, NC, and Ian (Kary) of Skaneateles, NY; grandchildren, Claire, Duncan, Kate, Colin, and Adam; brother, Les (Rita) Clark of Chalfont St. Giles, England; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours.
A memorial service to celebrate Katherine's life will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Katherine will be laid to rest in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse.
