June E. Phillips, 72, of Camillus, died Friday, February 8, 2008 at Community-General Hospital. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania on Saturday, June 8, 1935, she was the daughter of Mary Costello and Joseph John Meehan. Raised in Scranton, she lived in Camillus since 1980. June was a graduate of Holy Rosary High School in 1953 and also a graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Scranton. A registered nurse, she was formerly employed with Mercy Hospital in Scranton and later employed for 18 years with Empire Blue Cross & Blue Shield in Syracuse, retiring in 1997. She was a communicant of Holy Family Church and an active volunteer with the food pantry. June was also involved with bible study groups and a women's prayer group. Surviving are her husband of 46 years, Philip; children, Diane and Mark Trently of Scranton, Philip and Julie Phillips of Columbia, Maryland, Judy and Joseph Walsh of Syracuse and Michael and Kristin Phillips of New York; grandchildren, Stefani and Eric Trently, Kyle, Evan and John Phillips, and Abigail and Maggie Walsh; and sister, Rita McCullough of Wintersville, Ohio. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at Holy Rosary Church in Scranton where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Friends may call Sunday, February 10, 2008 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus and Monday, February 11, 2008 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Edward Knight O'Donnell Funeral Home in Scranton. Burial will be in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
