Judith G. Brown

September 20, 1938 — February 17, 2024

Syracuse

Judith G. Brown, 85, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully Saturday at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in Ogdensburg, Judith was a graduate from Ogdensburg Free Academy and pursued higher education at SUNY Potsdam, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education. In the 1970s, she settled in Watertown where she raised her family and worked as an elementary school teacher, touching the lives of many young students.

Judith had a passion for animals. She enjoyed spending time with her Arabian horse, Sundance, adopting stray cats, raising her own dogs, and training lab puppies for Guiding Eyes for the Blind. Judith’s love for dogs led her to become a member of the Syracuse Obedience Training Club. She was an obedience instructor for many years, and owned many Airedale Terriers, raising numerous grand champions.

Judith’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and her dogs on their property nestled along the St. Lawrence River. She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Judith was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Martha George, and sister, Virginia Scott.

Surviving are her son, David (Lisa) Brown; daughters, Elisabeth (Pat) McCann, Cynthia Mayoral, and Catherine Brown; grandchildren, Andrew (Laura), Matthew, Michelle (Matthew), Michael, Sierra, and Celeste; brother, John “Jack” George, and many nieces and nephews.

A private celebration of life will be held by her family.
