Judith Ann (Morey) Daino, 76, of West Palm Beach, FL, passed away peacefully after a brief illness at Francis House in Syracuse, NY, surrounded by her loving family. A native of the Syracuse area, she graduated from Central Technical High School in 1963. She was a proud homemaker who relished in taking care of her family and friends. She became a mentor and surrogate sister, mother, grandmother, to many, young and old, maintaining the relationships throughout her life. Through her deep Catholic faith, Judy was also dedicated in helping the communities in which she lived. She was actively involved in and donated endless hours at many non-for-profit, charitable, arts and social service organizations in Upstate New York and in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Judy was predeceased by her parents, Allan and Betty Morey.
Surviving are her devoted husband of 54 years, Robert “Bob”, whom she adored and doted on throughout their marriage; daughter, Jill Daino; Rob (Vanlinh Nguyen) Daino; grandchildren, Chloe and Luca Daino and Zade Daino Krakower, with whom Judy cherished the tradition of baking her famous half-moon cookies; sister, Cheryl (David) Gandino, with whom she had a very special, close-knit relationship; niece, Jody (Todd) Lentz; nephew, Dave Gandino; great-niece and great-nephew, Sofia and Evan Lentz.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, June 1 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 259 E. Onondaga St., Syracuse. A funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Judy will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dewitt immediately following the Mass.
