Judi A. Flanagan, 72, of Camillus, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at her home. Born in Utica to Chester “Pete” and Anne (Yaworski) Czupryna, she was a graduate of Utica Free Academy and earned her bachelor's degree from SUNY Geneseo. Judi was employed with the Baldwinsville Central School District for 25 years as a beloved first grade teacher. She was most known for her annual Christmas play and greeting all her students with a hug and smile each morning. She owned her own craft jewelry business, Jewels by Judi. She was involved with the Carol Baldwin Research Fund through the years and actively participated in the fundraising efforts towards life-saving research. Judi had been an avid wine maker, receiving an award on one of her blends. Her life’s work and passion was nurturing children, whether they were her students or her family. She was happiest when she was spending time with her grandchildren, supporting them in their activities.
Surviving are her husband of 40 years, James; mother, Anne Czupryna of North Chili; daughters, Carrie (Abe) Brown of Parker, CO and Jackie (Eric) Benjamin of Huntersville, NC; sons, Todd (Heather) Macknik of Baldwinsville and Darrin (Deborah Shepard) Flanagan of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Jean Keller of North Chili, Janet Czupryna of North Chili and Joan Mills of Auburn; grandchildren, Tucker, Reegan and Layne Macknik, Connor and Addison Brown, Hunter and Sarah Benjamin and Summer and Emilee Flanagan; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Saturday, March 3 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
