Juanita (Harwood) Soper, 81, of Syracuse, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Hornell, she moved to Camillus in the early 1960s. A graduate of Arnot Ogden School of Nursing, Juanita was employed with Community Hospital for three years before retiring in 1991 and previously worked at Van Duyn Home and Hospital for over 20 years. She was a member of Closer Walk of Upper New York and former board member of Onondaga Valley Cemetery. Juanita enjoyed amateur radio, sewing, working in the hair studio and camping, especially at Rollins Pond. Above all else, she loved spending time with her family.
Juanita was predeceased by her husband, Charles Soper Sr., in 2009.
Surviving are her daughters, Cheryl (David) Trembley of Syracuse, Patricia (Matt) Bednarski of Marcellus and Pamela (Tom) Lamoureaux of Memphis; sons, Charles Jr. of Fayetteville, Richard (Meg) of Elmira, Marc of Camillus and James (Barbara) of Syracuse; grandchildren, David (Ashley), and Michael Trembley, Christina (Jim) Tarolli, Joshua, Richelle, Breanne and Zachary Soper, Jayme, Benjamin and Bradley Bednarski, Bethannie, Nicole, Tommy, Kyle and Kelly Lamoureaux and Christopher, Patrick, Madison, James and Julia Soper; and great-grandchildren, Rachael, Mylah, Mason and Trina.
Relatives and friends may call Sunday, March 10 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Services will be Monday, March 11 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Juanita will be laid to rest in Onondaga Valley Cemetery, Syracuse.
