Josephine Montanti Vellone, 96, of Syracuse, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at The Centers at St. Camillus. She was a lifetime resident of the Syracuse area. Josephine was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church. She wintered in Florida and spent summers at her cottage on the Moose River. Josephine enjoyed cooking, decorating and was an avid shopper, but above all else, loved spending time with her children and family.
Josephine was predeceased by her husband, Criscenzo; sister, Susan Mancuso; brothers, Charles, Joseph and Carmen Montanti; and son-in-law, Frederick Johnson.
Surviving are her daughters, Natalie Johnson, Millie (Louis) Kowalski and Jill (Wesley) Arlukiewicz, all of Lakeland; brother-in-law, Guido Vellone of Syracuse; grandchildren, Christina, Susan, Thomas, David, Maria, Marla, Vincent, Steven and Zachary; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of the D unit of St. Camillus for their tender and compassionate care given to Josephine.
Relatives and friends may call Sunday, October 2 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Services will be Monday, October 3 at 9 a.m. at the funeral home and 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Peace Church, 203 Halcomb St., Syracuse, NY 13209, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Burial will be private.
