Josephine M. Murphy, 88, of Solvay, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2012 at Upstate University at Community General. Born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts on Thursday, April 3, 1924, she was the daughter of Gerald Rausa and Rose Disciacca Rausa. Josephine was a lifetime resident of the Syracuse area and lived most of her life in Solvay. She graduated from North High School and retired from Anheuser-Busch Brewery in 1994 after more than 25 years. Josephine was a former communicant of St. Charles Borromeo Church and a former member of the IBEW and Teamsters. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed reading and traveling. Josephine was predeceased by her husband, John Murphy, in 1959. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, David and Janet of Westvale; sister, Diminica Nuzzo of Baldwinsville; grandsons, John and Daniel Murphy; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, September 26 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home with Deacon Nick Alvaro officiating. Burial will be private in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Josephine’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 6725 Lyons St., P.O. Box 7, East Syracuse, NY 13057.
