Joseph William Sullivan, 67, of Syracuse, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Van Duyn Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing. Born in Glens Falls, he moved to the Syracuse area in 1980. A graduate of St. Mary's Academy, Joseph earned his Associate of Applied Science from Adirondack Community College. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. Joseph was employed with Niagara Mohawk for over 30 years before retiring in 2004. After retiring, he moved to Florida where he enjoyed golfing and traveling. He was active in many local charity groups and enjoyed watching SU sports. Joseph loved spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren, Cole and Whitney. A faithful and generous person, Joseph was very proud of his Irish heritage and always loved sharing a beer and good joke.
Joseph was predeceased by his parents.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Nancy; daughter, Erin (Chad) Parks; son, William (Ricci) Sullivan; grandchildren, Cole and Whitney Parks; one sister; two brothers; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call Friday, August 18 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will follow at 12:30 p.m. in Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse. Joseph will be laid to rest in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
