Joseph Sgroi, 81, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away Sunday at home. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he attended Chittenango Central School District. Joseph was employed by Ziegler’s Bakery for over 10 years and then worked as a tire delivery driver for various companies for 10 years, retiring in 2007.
Aside from his dedication to his work, Joe had a deep passion for cars. Whether it was admiring the sleek curves of a classic car or attending a car show, Joe's enthusiasm was infectious.
Joseph's true passion, however, was found in the love and care he had for his family. He was a devoted husband and father to his beloved wife, Patricia, and daughter, Kandi. He especially found joy in spending quality time with his granddaughter, Skye. They shared countless precious moments, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Joseph was predeceased by his son, Joey Sgroi; grandson, Brandon Bergman; parents, Theresa and Leonard; brothers, Paul, James, and Louis; and sister, Virginia Kluskie.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Patricia; daughter, Kandi Sgroi of Syracuse; granddaughter, Skye Bergman; brother, Leonard (Mary Rose) of Geddes; sister, Toni Raichlin of Camillus; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects and bid a final farewell to Joseph on Saturday, January 20 from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral service to honor Joseph’s life will follow in the funeral home.
Joseph will be laid to rest in Belle Isle Cemetery, Warners.
