J.R. Morabito, 56, a resident of Camillus, and beloved brother, father, son and friend, succumbed to a long term illness on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center. Born in Syracuse on Thursday, November 19, 1953, he was a 1971 graduate of West Genesee High School and graduate of Syracuse University with a degree in environmental science and chemical engineering. J.R. previously lived in Laguna Niguel, California and was employed by URS Corp. in Irvine, California. An avid fly fisherman, he enjoyed the outdoors and was a great supporter of SU football and basketball. J.R. was predeceased by his father, Joseph Anthony Morabito in 1970. Surviving are his daughter, Lauren Rae Morabito of Laguna Niguel, California; mother, Louise (John) Meagher of Camillus; sisters, Mara (Rick) Schubert of East Syracuse and Marcia Morabito and her son Nicholas of Camillus; and brother, Robert (Marla) Morabito and children Joseph, Alesha, Robby and Lisa of Camillus. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 19 in St. Joseph’s Church, Camillus. Relatives and friends may call Friday, December 18 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Burial will be private.
