Joseph M. Toole, 83, of Syracuse, passed away the morning of Saturday, February 20 at Loretto. He was born in Auburn on April 7, 1937. Joseph was employed with Allied Signal in Solvay for 32 years before retiring as plant manager. He then worked as manager of operations for Hydra-Co., CMS and Salt City Cogeneration. Joseph was a Marine Corps veteran and member of the Syracuse Brigadiers and West Genesee Jaycees.
Joe loved the Yankees, Bills, Syracuse Sports, golf, vacationing in Hollywood Beach and spending time with his family, especially taking his grandchildren to restaurants and deep-sea fishing. He would always say, “there’s no such thing as a free lunch” and then always pay the check. He was a charmer with a great sense of humor.
Joseph was predeceased by his son, Mike Toole.
Surviving are his sons, Mark, Scott and Peter; grandchildren, Terry, Christy, Ryan and Nicholas; great-grandchildren, Mike, Sophia and Ryan; and brother, Jim.
As per Joseph’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cancer Research Institute, 29 Broadway, Floor 4, New York, NY 10006.
