Joseph James McShane
August 20, 1964 — January 15, 2021
Joseph James McShane, 56, of Camillus, passed away in his sleep on January 15, 2021, leaving behind his mother, Patricia M. McShane; and siblings, Theresa (Michael) Ferrari, Sharon (Allen) Frost, James (Hope) McShane, Edward (Danyelle) McShane Jr., David (Angela) McShane, Mary Patricia (Kevin) Hoag and Peter (Dayna) McShane; and 20 nieces and nephews.
Joe was predeceased by his father, Edward J. McShane Sr., in 2002.
From 1993 to 2013, Joe was an operating engineer for Hotel Syracuse and GML Parking, LLC. Over the course of his life, he held many other construction jobs for McShane Custom Homes, Inc., overhauled apartments and built numerous buildings. He was a phenomenal craftsman, plumber, mechanical troubleshooter and could fix just about anything.
Joe enjoyed fishing and trips to Topsail Beach, NC, Florida, Maine and Ireland. He often stopped to show the catch of the day in the trunk of his car.
Joe was loved by many and he was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, January 21 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church. Joe will be laid to rest in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Marcellus.
In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made in memory of Joseph McShane to the St. Joseph’s Food Pantry, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus, NY 13031.
