Joseph J. Majczak, 67, a devoted father and grandfather, of Baldwinsville, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2009 at Community General Hospital. Born in Rome, New York on Friday, September 26, 1941, he was the son of Albert Majczak and Anne Czerkies Majczak. He lived in Camillus for 15 years and Baldwinsville for the past 20 years. He retired from New Channels as vice president of engineering in 1995. Joseph was an Air Force veteran and former basketball coach for the Camillus Optimists. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, hunting, traveling and spending time with his family. Joseph was predeceased by his beloved wife, the former Diane Shirey, who died February 2, 1994. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Tracy Majczak of Rochester; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Walter “Buddy” Irving of Camillus; proud Grampie to grandsons, Nick and Nathan Irving; and companion, Lois Merrill. Funeral services will be at noon Thursday, March 5, 2009 in Holy Family Church. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, March 4, 2009 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Joseph will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to SPCA, 5878 E. Molloy Rd., Mattydale, NY 13211.
