Joseph J. Isyk, 81, of Jacksonville, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday at his home. Born on February 1, 1941, and raised in Syracuse, he moved to Virginia in 2001 and resided in Florida since 2017 under the excellent care of his daughter, Melinda, and her spouse, Betty. Joseph was a graduate of Central Tech High School and a Navy veteran from 1959-1964. He was employed by the United States Postal Service for 34 years before retiring in 1998 and was a former communicant of Holy Family Church. Joseph was an avid golfer, loved boating, and enjoyed watching baseball and playing cards. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.
Joseph was predeceased by his wife, the former Antoinette Stepien; and grandson, Joshua Isyk.
Surviving are his daughters, Melissa (Donald) Peterson of Lakeland, Melinda (Betty) Isyk of Jacksonville, FL and Marchelle Allen of Charlotte, NC; son, Joseph Jr. of Michigan; brothers, Richard (Ann) of Clay and Gerald (Cindy) of Liverpool; sister, Judith (Peter) Fragola of Syracuse; grandchildren, Emily, Jerry, Connie (Andrew), Benjamin, Aaron, Amanda, Joey, Timothy, Dr. Rachel, Brett, Sydney, and William; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 26 at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse. Joseph will be laid to rest in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Camillus.
