Joseph F. Janson, 78, of Camillus, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center. Born and raised in Philadelphia, he lived in Camillus since 1977. Joe was a 1953 graduate of Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia. He was a Coast Guard veteran of the Korean War, having served in the North Atlantic Ice Patrol. He retired in 1996 from Bostitch/Stanley Inc. after 32 years. He was also formerly employed by his family's food business, Janson Butter & Eggs, in Philadelphia for eight years. Joe was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and active member of the Onondaga Ski Club. He was an avid fisherman. Other interests included golf, tennis and gardening. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, the former Maryann Burns; daughter, Peg (Bill) Beebe of Camillus; sons, Joseph (Theresa) Janson of Florida, John (Linda) Janson of Liverpool and James (Sharon) Janson of Monroe; sisters, Nonie Brodnyan of Doylestown, PA and Mary Anne Janson of Warrington, PA; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call Thursday, August 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will be Friday, August 23 at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church where a funeral mass will be celebrated. Joe will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
