Joseph A. Vollmer, 71, of Syracuse, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Iroquois Nursing Home. Born in Syracuse on Saturday, June 17, 1939, he was the son of Solomon Vollmer and Emma Schmid Vollmer. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was a Navy veteran. Joe retired in 2000 as a newspaper distributor for the Post-Standard and was previously employed as a printer for WSYR. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and volunteer for Meals On Wheels. Surviving are his sisters and brothers-in-laws, Mary and Erwin Betz of Barrington, Philomena and Garrett Bronner of Cicero and Margaret and Curtis James of Crystal River, Florida; and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, July 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 15 at the funeral home and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated.
