Joseph A. Alfieri, 84, of Camillus, passed away Monday, July 27, 2015 at home. Born and raised in Buffalo, he lived in Syracuse since 1978. Joe was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 and served as a MP during the Korean War. He was a sponsor of the Junior Achievement, former member of the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce and had a passion for finances and the stock market. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Joe was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, the former Mary Louise Besser, in 2012. Surviving are his daughter, Linda Landry of Syracuse; sons, Louis Alfieri of Hannibal and Daniel (Gretchen) Alfieri of Syracuse; grandchildren, Joseph (Cara) Alfieri, Thomas (Briana) Alfieri, Emily (Tyler) George and Rachel and Caroline Landry; great-grandchildren, Colby, Jackson and Benjamin Alfieri; sister, Geraldine Reynolds of Amherst, NY; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Friday, July 31 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will be private. Joe will be laid to rest at the Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North St., Liverpool, NY 13088.
