John W. Morris, 90, of Camillus, New York, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at the St. Camillus Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Syracuse, on Friday, August 4, 1916 to William and Marguerite Morris. He was a lifelong resident of the Syracuse area and a 1935 graduate of Eastwood High School. Upon graduation from high school he went to work for Syracuse China Corporation and after 44 years of service, he retired as manager of Production Control. On April 28, 1940, he married Mary McKendrick at Elmwood Presbyterian Church. John was a member of Morning Star Lodge of the Order of Masons for 50 years, and a member of the Solvay-Geddes Kiwanis Club. He was a charter member of Robinson Memorial Presbyterian Church and served in many capacities during his lifetime. For 75 years John pursued his hobby and passion of entomology. He guest lectured widely at CNY area schools and recently donated his extensive collection of over 5,000 documented specimens to St. Petersburg College, Tarpon Springs, Florida, where it is available to entomologists, students and the public for research and education. John is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary McKendrick Morris; brother, William Morris; sister, Anita Stockford; daughters and son-in-law, Carolyn Kistner of Palm Harbor, Florida and Marcia and Douglas Morrell of Richmond, Vermont; grandchildren, David, Brian and Ann Kistner, Catherine Morrell and Sheryl Bregand; great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Andrew, Matthew, and Kendall. Calling hours are 4-6 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2007 at t he Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus, with services at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 27, 2007 at Robinson Memorial Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Warners.
