John Volsko, 87, of Camillus, died Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at Crouse Hospital. Born in Syracuse on Friday, May 27, 1921, he was the son of Stephen Volsko and Julia Gidik Volsko. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he attended Porter School. John was employed by Crucible Steel Corp. He worked in CCC camps. He was a former communicant of St. Stephen's Church and former member of the Pastime Club. An avid bowler and golfer, he was a member of the Camillus Country Club. He was a loving grandpa and great-grandpa. John was predeceased by his wife, the former Helen Leschak; brothers, Stephen and Michael Volsko; and sisters, Margaret Rolince and Helen Mitchell. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Tom Barnes of Skaneateles; sisters, Mary Slowinski, Ann Volsko and Irene Olcott, all of Camillus; grandchildren, Thomas and Tracie Barnes of Marcellus, Christopher and Matthew Barnes, both of Camillus; great-grandchildren, Channa and Emmett Barnes of Marcellus and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family wishes to thank the Third Floor Staff at St. Camillus for their loving care of John. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus with Rev. Michael Galuppi officiating. Friends may call preceding the funeral from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
