John "Neal" Speach, 88, of Camillus, passed away Sunday at Upstate Medical Center. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was a graduate of North High School. Neal was employed by G&C Food Distributors for over 30 years and previously owned a grocery store until 1979. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, and playing tennis. Most of all, Neal loved spending time with family and would look forward to Sunday gatherings. Known as "Papa Speach," he frequently attended Camillus sporting events.
Neal was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Joan.
Surviving are his daughters, Jacqueline (Benny) DiMarco, Amy (Kevin) McNamara, and Patricia (Kevin Davis) Kemp; grandchildren, John (Alysia), Danny (Aimee), Elyse (Brandon), Marissa, Karli, and Ryan; great-grandchildren, Bennett, Leo, and Gracelynn; sister, Joanne (Don) Kline; sister-in-law, Nancy Kleintop; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call Friday, April 21 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A private graveside service will be held in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231.
