John F. Soltis, 83, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully Tuesday at home. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was a U.S. Army veteran. John was employed by Anheuser-Busch Beer Co. as a machine operator for over 21 years, retiring in 2003. A communicant of Ss. Peter & Paul Russian Orthodox Church, he was a longtime caretaker along with his dear friend, John Daniels, at St. Michael’s Russian Orthodox Cemetery. John was an avid sports fan and enjoyed bowling and college basketball. He also enjoyed traveling and the casino. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
John was predeceased by his wife, Sarah in 2017; and parents, Steven and Julia.
Surviving are his daughters, Maria (Barry) Bourgeois of Fulton and Christina Brown of Marcellus; grandchildren, Kevin, Kyle, McKenna, Holly, and Tyler; sister, Mary Anne Soltis of Albany; brother, Steven (Sue) Soltis of Fort Worth, TX; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, John Daniels.
Relatives and friends may call Monday, October 16, from 4 to 6 p.m., followed by a Panikhida service at 6 p.m., at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
The Office for the Departed (service) will be Tuesday, October 17 at 9 a.m. in Ss. Peter & Paul Russian Orthodox Church, 401 Hamilton St., Syracuse.
John will be laid to rest in St. Michael's Russian Orthodox Cemetery, East Syracuse.
