John C. Jack Whalen, 60, of Camillus, died Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center. Born in Syracuse on Sunday, April 21, 1946, he was the son of John Irving Whalen and Catherine Lina Thomas. He lived in Camillus for more than 25 years and received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Le Moyne College. Jack was vice president of ACE/Rockwell in Sullivan, Missouri and was formerly employed by Lipe Rollway for 17 years. A Vietnam veteran, he was awarded the Bronze Star and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a communicant of Holy Family Church. Surviving are his wife of 36 years, the former JoAnne Connery; daughter and son-in-law, Colleen and Matthew Sandford of Camillus; sons, Casey and Christopher Whalen, both of Camillus; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Bill Ellis of Camillus; brother and sister-in-law,Robert and Helena Whalen of Central Square and grandson, Colin Whalen. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday, June 16, 2006 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus and in Holy Family Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated.
