John "Jack" F. Nelligan

October 1, 1928 — February 21, 2017

John "Jack" F. Nelligan, 88, of Camillus, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon, IN. Born and raised in Buffalo, he moved to the Syracuse area in 1974. He was a Marine veteran of the Korean War. Jack retired in 1991 after 35 years with the Dept. of Social Services. He held the position of chaplain with the Camillus American Legion Post 1540.

Jack was predeceased by his wife, Madonna, in 1995; sister, Mary Wolf; and brother, Hugh Nelligan.

Surviving are his daughter, Mollie McCoy of Lebanon, IN; sister, Winifred Carden of Sarasota, FL; brother, David Nelligan of Gorham, ME; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, March 1 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.

Services will be Thursday, March 2 at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home and 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Jack will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Food Pantry, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus, NY 13031.
