John "Jack" E. Leary

John "Jack" E. Leary, 60, of Camillus, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 3 at home surrounded by his loving family, after a long courageous battle with brain cancer.    Born and raised in Springfield, MA, Jack lived in Camillus, NY since 1978. He received an associate's degree from Onondaga Community College and was employed by Owens Illinois in Auburn for thirty four years. He was also a Boy Scout leader (Troop #407) for many years and a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Camillus.    Jack was predeceased by his parents, James and Catherine Leary.    Jack was admired for his strength, perseverance, selfless giving nature, and unique sense of humor. He had a natural ability to make people laugh even in the roughest of times. Jack was a lifetime fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriot teams, often enjoying the games with his many friends.    Most of all, family meant everything to Jack. Perhaps his most cherished role was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather (Papa), and brother. Jack will be missed and forever loved by his wife, Kathleen of thirty three years; children, Megan (Michael) Palmer, Sean Leary, and Bridget Leary; granddaughter, Ella Kate Palmer; sisters, Mary Ann (John) Boon, Catherine Leary SSJ, Noreen (Jack) Smith, Denise Jones, Frances (Michael) Kollenz, Tracy (Scott) Thornock, Clare (Ted) DeCosmo; brothers, James (Mary) Leary, Martin (Rose) Leary; and many nieces and nephews.    Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, January 6 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.    A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 7 at St. Joseph's Church.    It was Jack's wish that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield, 577 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104 or to Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North Street, Liverpool, NY 13088.
