John M. Pitoniak, 66, of Raquette Lake, and formerly of Solvay, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2020. Born and raised in Syracuse, he spent 20 years in the Adirondacks. A graduate of Solvay High School, John received his associate degree from the Culinary Institute of America and later earned his Master Baker Certification. He was past president and member of the Raqueteers Snowmobile Club, member of the Raquette Lake Fish and Game Club, YAVLOS Motorcycle Club and ADK 46ers. John was an avid outdoorsman, loved live music and playing his guitar. He was an Adirondack guide and enjoyed hiking, cooking and having a good cigar. Above all, John loved spending time with his family and friends.
John was predeceased by his parents, John and Rita Pitoniak; and sister, Carol Hard.
Surviving are his loving wife, Rhonda; daughter, Amy Pitoniak of Solvay; son, Ty Marshal of Solvay; granddaughter, Amelia Catalano; sisters, Ellen Parker of Baldwinsville and Martha (Joe) Fabrizio of Solvay; brother-in-law, Gerald Hard of Lakeland; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday, March 12 from 3 to 6:30 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will follow at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
A celebration of John’s life will be held in Raquette Lake at a later date in the summer.
