John M. “Jack” Patchett, 70, of Camillus, died Friday, January 9, 2009 at home. Born in Syracuse on Saturday, October 8, 1938, he was the son of Frederick Leonard Patchett and Sylvia Arlene Gridley Patchett. Jack retired from Southern Containers in Camillus and was also formerly employed by Mead Containers Inc. He was a member of the United Paper Workers International Union AFL-CIO Local 1430. A Marine Corps veteran, Jack was a life member of the Greater Syracuse Detachment 224 Marine Corps League and the VFW Fairmount Post 5284. He was also a member of the Second Marine Division Assn., Marine Corps Assn., Mid-Atlantic Ch. Second Marine Division Assn. and the Beirut Veterans of America. Jack was also a former member of the B.P.O.E. Camillus Elks Lodge No. 2367 and member of the Cleveland Browns Backers Club and SU Orange Pack. Surviving are his daughter, Bambi L. Patchett of Syracuse; sons, David L. Patchett of Syracuse and John M. Patchett II of Camillus; brother, James M. Patchett of West Seneca; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 15, 2009 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus with Rev. Heather Williams officiating. Friends may call Wednesday, January 14, 2009 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
