John W. Luczka, 90, of Camillus, passed away Sunday at University Hospital. He was born and raised in Auburn before moving to Camillus in 1965. John was a graduate of Auburn High School and one of the first graduates of Le Moyne College. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, John retired as a purchasing agent from Anheuser-Busch Co. after 12 years. He was formerly employed by McMillan Book Co. (where he met his wife, Mary), Prestolite, Joseph Schlitz Brewing Co., and Allied Chemical. John was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church and a member of the American Legion Post 1540. He enjoyed traveling, golfing, gardening, but above all, he loved spending time with his family.
John was predeceased by his wife of 59 ½ years, Mary.
Surviving are his son, Stephen (Cindy) Luczka of Pennellville; daughter, Janet (Michael) Fedor of Marion, IN; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday, September 23 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, September 24 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, Camillus. John will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
