John. L. Dehnert

August 12, 1936 — February 14, 2017

John L. Dehnert, 80, of Camillus, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at University Hospital. Born in Albany, he lived in Syracuse since 1962. John was a graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute and earned his MBA degree from Syracuse University. He was an engineer at Niagara Mohawk for over 20 years and member of Immanuel United Methodist Church. John enjoyed many outdoor activities with his family, especially spending time at their camp.

John was predeceased by his parents, Floyd and Marjorie Dehnert; and brother, William.

Surviving are his wife of 56 years "Kay"; daughters, Karen (Mark) Gaylord of Purcellville, VA and Amy (Russell) Gribnau of Marcellus; son, David Dehnert of Portland, OR; sister, Virginia Thomas of Stamford, CT; eight granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are Wednesday, February 22 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.

Services will be Thursday, February 23 at 11 a.m. in Immanuel United Methodist Church, 303 Kasson Rd., Camillus. John will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the MDS Foundation, 4573 S. Broad St., Suite 150, Yardville, NJ 08620 or to Immanuel United Methodist Church.
