John J. Francher, 93, of Camillus, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2020. He lived in Camillus for 60 years and attended Solvay High School. A Navy veteran of WWII, John served as a Merchant Marine in the European and Pacific Theater. He was employed with Allied Chemical Corp. for 39 years. John was a former communicant of St. Cecilia's Church. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman and also enjoyed golfing. He loved spending time with his friends and family.
John was predeceased by the love of his life, Ann “Nancy” Francher in 2011. They were married for 60 years after meeting at Sylvan Beach. He was also predeceased by his son-in-law, Michael Rao, in 2012.
Surviving are his son, Jack (Peggy) of Sandy Pond; daughters, Linda Cotroneo of Baldwinsville, JoAnn Rao of Camillus and Marian (Peter) Rayo of Onondaga Hill; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
There will be no calling hours.
Services will be private. John will be laid to rest in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
