John Joseph Gleason Sr., 91, of Syracuse, passed away Thursday at St. Camillus Health and Rehabilitation Center. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was a graduate of Central High School and a U.S. Navy veteran. John was employed by Syracuse Vending for over 40 years before retiring in 1994. During and after his time with Syracuse Vending, he was the owner of J&C Pharmaceuticals Corp. in Syracuse until 2020. John was loved by all who knew him. He was easy to recognize with his Irish wool hat and a smile on his face. He loved spending time with family and enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially with his two beagles, Barney and Tilly. John’s family seeks comfort in knowing that he is resting peacefully in Heaven with the love of his life, Connie, his “Dearie”.
John was predeceased by his wife, Constance; daughter, Jane Nesci; granddaughter, Sarah Gleason; parents, William and Catherine Gleason; two sisters; and one brother.
Surviving are his daughters, Joanne Gleason of Venice, FL, and Jacqueline (Greg) Strait of Marcellus; sons, John Jr. of Lyncourt and James of Syracuse; son-in-law, Raymond Nesci of Anna Maria, FL; cousin and best friend, Robert Ryan; grandchildren, Rachel and Jesse Gleason, Ashley and Spencer (Shelby) Nesci, and Madison and Scott Strait; and great-granddaughter, Sage Nesci.
Services will be private.
John will be laid to rest in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse.
