John G. “Jack” Cuddy Jr., 76, of Camillus, passed away Monday, January 4, 2010 at Iroquois Nursing Home. Born on Friday, July 14, 1933, he was the son of the late John G. Cuddy Sr. and Rosemone Hughes Cuddy. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, Jack was a graduate of CBA, Class of 1951, and the University of Notre Dame, Class of 1955, where he received a degree in civil engineering. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958. As a licensed professional engineer, Jack was employed for 20 years by Winkrete Precast Co. Among his projects were Manley Field House and the SU Carrier Dome. He retired from Hydra-Co. Enterprises in 1995. Jack was a member of the American Arbitration Association and American Society of Civil Engineers. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church where he also served as an usher. A member of Notre Dame Club of CNY, he was an avid sports fan, particularly for the University of Notre Dame. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, the former Martha McNulty; sons and daughter-in-law, Michael and Mary Ann Cuddy of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Daniel Cuddy and Timothy Cuddy, both of Camillus; daughters and son-in-law, Kathleen Taylor of Camillus and Margaret and Doug Nothnagle of Rochester; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and John Fredenberg of Charlotte, North Carolina; grandchildren, Michael, Maggie and Melissa Cuddy, Steven, Brad and Kristina Taylor, Clare, Grace and Jack Nothnagle; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 8 in St. Joseph’s Church. Relatives and friends may call Thursday, January 7 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Jack will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association of CNY, 441 W.
