John F. “Red” Kosecki, 89, of Lakeland, passed away Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Community General Hospital. Born in Solvay on Thursday, August 4, 1921, he was the son of Wanda Lottie Niedzielski and Joseph Kosecki. He was a Lakeland resident for most of his life. He was an Army veteran. John retired in 1979 after 25 years with the U.S. Federal Government. A communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church, he was a member of the Holy Name Society and also of the AARP. John was predeceased by his wife, the former Elizabeth Polech, on January 2, 2008. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, John and Barbara Kosecki of Syracuse; brother, Joseph of Lakeland; grandchildren, Katie Kosecki, Alison and Jesse Farinacci; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Thursday, August 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Rev. Tom Kobuszewski will celebrate a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. Friday, August 20 in Our Lady of Peace Church. John will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.
