John F. Campbell, 64, of Syracuse, formerly of Auburn and Camillus, passed away Monday, August 13, 2012 at home. Born in Syracuse on Friday, July 23, 1948, he graduated from West Genesee High School. John retired in 2000 after 27 years with Centro. A member of the N.R.A., he was an avid sportsman, and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a dedicated guitarist and collector. John was predeceased by his mother, Mary Elizabeth Mitchell and father, Malcolm A. Campbell. Surviving are his brothers and sister, Malcolm R. (Jean) Campbell of Camillus, Carol A. McCrossen of Canandaigua and Richard B. (Judy) Mitchell of Liverpool; nieces, Carleen (Steve) Pensero, Cindi Campbell, Jennifer (Joe) Borzilleri, Marguerite "Peggy" (Darian) Mitchell-Sundberg and Elizabeth Mitchell; nephews, Michael (Laura) Campbell, Evan and Alex McCrossen; and many great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call Saturday, August 18 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will follow at noon at the funeral home. John will be laid to rest in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Elbridge.
