John Earl Thomas, 57, of Syracuse, passed away on Monday. Born in Bridgeport, CT, he was a graduate of West Genesee High School. John was employed as a welder at Specialty Welding. He had a true passion for music and found much joy in writing it, playing his guitar, and teaching guitar lessons. John was a snake enthusiast, enjoyed fishing and cars, especially his Trans Am. Above all, he loved his family and his friends.
John is predeceased by his parents, Earl and Cecile Thomas.
Surviving are his companion of many years, Jean Mullin of Syracuse; sisters, Joyce (Michael) Dalton of Canton and Lynn (Jeffrey) Connors of Camillus; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held, Friday, December 17 at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse. Face masks are required. Private burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Family Church Food Pantry.
