John E. Glowacki, 80, of Syracuse, died Friday, March 16, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center. Born in Syracuse on Sunday, August 2, 1931, he was a lifetime resident of the Syracuse area. He was a graduate of CBA, Le Moyne College and Syracuse University Law School. An attorney, John practiced law for more than 50 years, retiring from his own practice in 2010. He was also a member of the New York State Bar Association. He was a communicant of St. Cecilia's Church and former communicant of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. He enjoyed boating and fishing at his summer home and spending time with his family and many friends in the 1000 Islands. The family would like to thank the staff in the ER, 1-1, MICU and Oncology Departments at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center for the compassionate care they provided John. He was predeceased by his parents, Benjamin and Lottie Glowacki. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, the former Diane Bruet; brother and sister-in-law, Gerald A. and Carole Glowacki, M.D. of Baltimore, Maryland; sisters-in-law, Julia Gebicki of Latrobe, Pennsylvania and Mary Ellen Bruet of Camillus; brother-in-law, Maurice W. Bruet of New York City; aunt, Pauline Kotas of Syracuse; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. There will be no calling hours. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 3 in St. Cecilia's Church. Private burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Croghan, NY. Arrangements are by the Buranich Funeral Home, Camillus.
