John D. McAuliffe, 75, of Camillus, died peacefully Monday, September 24, 2012 at home. Born in New York City on Monday, January 4, 1937, he was raised in White Sulphur Springs, New York and lived in Rochester before moving to Camillus in 1975. John graduated from Liberty High School and served in the Navy on the USS Kearsarge from 1955 to 1959. He retired from the steel service center industry after 47 years. John was a member of Tuscarora Golf Club for over 30 years. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. John was predeceased by his parents, Daniel J. McAuliffe and Mary Cleary McAuliffe. Surviving are his loving wife of 49 years, the former Helen Loeffler; sons and daughters-in-law, William and Joni of Frederick, Maryland and John Jr. and Suzanne of Indian Trail, North Carolina; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Donald Betz of Baldwinsville; grandchildren, Bailey and Emily McAuliffe of Frederick, Maryland; brothers and sisters-in-law, Daniel and Kathleen of Rome, New York, Timothy and Barbara of Round Rock, Texas, and William and Cassaundra of Friendswood, Texas; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call Friday, September 28 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, September 29 at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church. Burial will be private in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
