John D. Cantwell, 84, of Camillus, passed away Sunday at Loretto. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he graduated from Syracuse Central High School. John was a Navy veteran. He retired in 1996 after 22 years with Onondaga Community College and was formerly a professional drummer and bartender. He was a former member of the Syracuse Musicians Protective Organization. He enjoyed music, reading and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
John was predeceased by his wife, the former Theresa Tysierski, in 2005; and sister, Judy McNamara.
Surviving are his daughters, Nancy Cantwell of East Syracuse, Dana (Rusty) McClintock of Wilton, CT and Jacqueline Cantwell of Camillus; grandchildren, Madison, Hudson and Emmerson McClintock; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours.
Services will be private. John will be laid to rest in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
