Joanne D. Oram, 82, of Camillus, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Upstate University Hospital Community Campus. Joanne was born on May 3, 1938 in Montclair, NJ to the late Elfa and Joseph Denton. She was a 1956 graduate of Hillside High School in Hillside, NJ. Joanne married her husband, Richard A. Oram on August 6, 1960 and enjoyed a loving marriage until Richard passed away on February 23, 1999. They lived in Toms River, NJ until moving to Camillus in 1969. Joanne worked as the nursing services secretary at St. Camillus for over 20 years before she retired. She was an active member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Camillus and sang in the choir. Music was a large part of Joanne’s life. She enjoyed playing the piano and sang in Voices of Faith, an interfaith choir, in addition to the church choir. Joanne enjoyed attending the Syracuse Symphony and local theater events with friends. Joanne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She was an avid sports fan and could be found at all her grandchildren’s sporting events cheering them on in the rain, sun or snow. She was a skilled seamstress and often made clothing, blankets, quilts and other items for herself, her grandchildren and others.
Joanne was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Elfa Denton; stepmother, Marie Denton; son, James Edward Oram; and husband of 39 years, Richard A. Oram.
Surviving are her children, Richard (Joanne) Oram Jr. of Alpharetta, GA, Donna Oram White of Camillus, Robert (Laura) Oram of Sackets Harbor and Juli-Anne (Kevin) Stratton of Camillus; grandchildren, Ricky, Sean and Michael Oram, Jacob, Daniel and Samuel Levine, Meghan and Hannah Oram, Malcolm and Shea Lynch and Emily and Ryan Stratton; great- grandchildren, Logan and Peyton Oram; sister, Susan (Fred) Mancuso of Rumson, NJ; brother, Robert (Jane) Denton of Maryland; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Monday, October 12 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Services will be Tuesday, October 13 at 10 a.m. in St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, Camillus. Burial will be private.
