Joan C. Thompson, 92, formerly of Camillus, passed away Friday, June 15, 2012 at Stonehedge Chittenango Center. Born in Sheffield, England on Monday, September 29, 1919, she was the daughter of James Carlton and Emma Lloyd Carlton. She and her parents immigrated to Buffalo and in 1960, the family moved to Central New York where she resided for 28 years. Joan and her husband, Wes, owned Thompson´s Carpet City and she was also formerly employed by Atlas Linen and Marine Midland Bank. An avid bowler and golfer, she played in many leagues and was a former member of the Skaneateles and Camillus Country Clubs and also a member of the Camillus Elks Auxiliary. Joan was predeceased by her husband, Wesley John Thompson on October 13, 1991. Surviving are her daughter, Barbara J. Stratton of DeWitt; son, Bruce C. Thompson of Bridgeport; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Pennie) Stratton of Evergreen, Colorado and Sherri (David) Dann of Oswego; great-grandchildren, Tye and Corrie DiPirro; and cousin, Sharon Schwedt of Buffalo. Relatives and friends may call Monday, July 2 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
