Joan Mulderig, 83, of Camillus, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2017 and is now at peace. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, she graduated from St. Patrick's Cathedral and was a communicant of Holy Family Church. Joan retired from St. Joseph's Hospital in 2013 and previously worked in the business office at the Tip Top Bakery. Joan loved to bake and was well known for her half-moon cookies and Irish soda bread. She was an avid reader and shopper and also enjoyed trying her “Irish luck” on the nickel slots, spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and gathering with friends and family, who gave her great joy. Joan was affectionately known by her family and friends as “Joan Jett.”
Joan was predeceased by her husband, Joseph; brother, Frank Ward; and sister, Mary Garvey.
Surviving are her daughters, Katherine (Tom), Mary Clare (Kevin) and Kelly Mulderig; sons, Patrick (Francine) and Martin (Maureen); grandchildren, Jacob and Julie Mulderig, Erin Downs, Sean and BJ Ryan, Clare Jackson, Jenna Tersigni, Robert Schick and Nicholas Mulderig; great-grandchildren, Blake, Liam, Declan and Shae; many nieces and nephews; and special loved ones, Carol Goldman and Sue Smith.
Relatives and friends may call Monday, October 30 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Services will be private. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
Joan’s career at St. Joseph’s as a financial counselor exemplified what Joan loved the most, helping others in need.
