Joan M. Hennessy

Joan M. (Czajak) Hennessy, 73, of Camillus, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2016 at Sunnyside Care Center. Born in Syracuse, she was raised in Mexico before moving to Camillus in 1972.
Joan graduated from SUNY Oswego with a Bachelor’s of Education degree. She was employed many years as a homebound tutor through the West Genesee Central School District. She was an avid SU basketball fan and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Joan was predeceased by her husband, Joseph; and brother, Joseph Czajak.
Surviving are her children, Catherine Hennessy of Camillus; Sarah (James) Starowitz of Manlius, Patrick (Cindi) and Michael (Betsy) Hennessy, both of Camillus; six grandchildren; and a niece and nephew.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, August 31 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Services will be Thursday, September 1 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of CNY, 441 E. Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204.
